Confluence — painting by Paul Fowler

A painting isn't built by adding layers alone. It is built by deciding what deserves to remain.

About the artist

Paul Fowler is an artist, architect, and educator whose work explores the intersection of structure, memory, and emotion. Through layers of paint, drawing, and revision, he creates compositions that balance order and disruption, revealing traces of what has been built, obscured, and rediscovered over time.

His abstract paintings draw upon a lifetime of architectural thinking — geometric frameworks and spatial relationships provide structure, while veils of color, scraped passages, and visible revisions introduce uncertainty and narrative. His work has been exhibited in regional and national juried exhibitions across the United States.
